Andy Whitakker
Andy Whittaker has been living and breathing music since he bought his first ever 7 inch single. When his friends were still playing with action men he was painting white stripes on his nose and learning Adam & The Ants dance moves. Since that day he has never looked back and made music his life, and built up a record collection that has grown out of control. He started Djing at age 17 at a student night in his home town of Burnley playing Acid Jazz and Indie music. At 18 he moved to Leeds to go to university but spent more time on the dancefloors of local clubs and in the local record shops than he did in lecture theatres. It was at the legendary local club nights Up Yer Ronson, Back To Basics and Hard Times that his love of house music grew, he was already a fan of the experimental electronic music coming out of Chicago from the legendary Wax Trax label, but on hearing the likes of Masters At Work for the first time he realised that house music was more than just a 4/4 soundtrack for an ecstacy experience.

Now label manager of 2020 Vision Recordings he still lives and breathes music and makes a living out of it as well, he continues to collect music from all genres and doesn’t like to play one style of music from one set to another. He is as comfortable playing across the board from hip-hop to house, jazz to jungle and rock to rave as long as the music has soul and a feeling. You can find him dj’ing at his residency at Asylum in Leeds and guesting at 2020 Vision parties across Europe.
